i was scheduled to interview Chef Carla Hall (from The Chew, Top Chef) on the 11th... but about noon on the 10th i received a call that Carla, who along with her awesome husband Matthew and their escort, was already here and ready for the interview! EEEEEEK! i scrambled to reach out to the coordinator to see where the misunderstanding came from... to no avail.
so, i took a deep breath, grabbed Carla + crew and brought them into my cafe (now former, more on that in a future post) for lunch... we had such a great chat about food, life, oil pulling, and ICE CREAM! (you can contribute to my campaign for my awesome chocolate raspberry i-scream recipe)
in the midst of our lunch + chat, i finally heard from the coordinator... yep, the interview was tomorrow not today! Carla was going to be down in Monterey but just happened to have a few hours in-between demos and book signings to drive back up to Mountain View for our afternoon interview so all would work out just fine.
it went great and i felt so honored to be able to spend multiple hours over two days with Carla... so, without further ado...

there have been lots of great chats with doctors (Mark Hyman, Brenda Davis), sustainable food fighters (Raj Patel, John & Ocean Robbins), celebrities (Woody Harrelson, Alicia Silverstone). you really should check it out if you haven't yet. the playbacks will be up for a few more days for free... you can buy the playbacks too if you desire to listen in later.
aside from Woody Harrelson :) what really drew me in was the doctors... we all want to trust our doctor. after all, they’re supposed to be the #1 expert on keeping us healthy, right?
find out what your doctor doesn’t know about food –> for example:
• if you eat certain foods, your risk of getting Alzheimer’s can TRIPLE (i wish i had known this when my grandpa Bryce was still around).
• type 2 diabetes is devastating tens of millions of lives, and science tells us it can be prevented... but government and industry are NOT taking helpful action (if only my grandma EdieBelle had known).
• hospitalizations for food allergies have tripled in the last 20 years (THIS IS SCARY FOR ME since i deal with so many allergies, intolerances and sensitivities).
• Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are in 75% of the foods on supermarket shelves and many scientists believe that GMOs have not been proven safe and could even be toxic.
the good news! you can prevent or even in some cases reverse heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, memory loss, fatigue, and many forms of cancer—with the right foods!
there are a lot of online events these days, but I hope you agree with me that there’s not much that’s more important than protecting the food we eat.
